My ISP started to use .local domain for BitTorrent retracker.
Awesome…
This broke Avahi, since it stops working after it detects that .local domain is already handled by someone and it broke the following things in turn:
- link-local xmpp (Bonjour)
- multicast DNS
- DAAP
- PulseAudio remote sink/source autodetection
- … UbuntuOne replication
rtgz: aquarius, my ISP started to use .local domain \
(yep, will fight with them... SOON). \
My Avahi does not like this and dies.
aquarius: what?
aquarius: that's flat out wrong
aquarius: kill your ISP :)
Fixed by adding ‘local’ to the –local list for dnsmasq effectively disabling the use of retracker. Thanks.
